I absolutely LOVE Oreos!
A few years ago, a friend made me a bunch of the cutest Minnie Mouse Oreos. They were picture perfect, absolutely flawless, and ever since then, I've wanted to make them myself. Only one thing stood in my way. I am in no way a "DIYer". However, my daughter has NEVER experienced the joy these delicious cookies bring, so I thought this would be a fun way to introduce Brooklyn to Oreos. I mean, what better day than on National Oreo Day?!?!
You can honestly make any character you’d like, so we choose some family faves...Minnie Mouse and Winnie the Pooh! I love chocolate/vanilla and Oreos, so even if this turned out to be a fail, I knew it would be delicious!
DISCLAIMER: I’m not a super artsy person and I typically dread DIY projects, but as a toddler mom, I’m really beginning to enjoy hands on projects with Brooklyn! We love to create things, we love Disney, and we love to eat!
Minnie Mouse Cookie Ingredients
Oreo Cookies (regular and mini)
Vanilla or White Chocolate Melts (red melts are desired, but day of, I couldn't find any)
Parchment paper
Red food coloring
Candy bows or a mold to make your own bows
Wilton White Cookie Icing
A pan or flat plate
Sprinkles
Directions
Begin melting your choice of melts. I heated my vanilla melts in my fondue pot because I was honestly too nervous to melt them in the microwave. (I used the wrong chocolate earlier in the day and it was a disaster) However, you can also melt chocolate or vanilla in a microwave safe bowl, on 50% power for three (3) minutes. Make sure you stir every 20-30 seconds.
Carefully pull apart the mini Oreos to use as ears and place two in the larger cookies for ears. I used a little cookie icing as "glue". Put the large Oreos back together.
Put the cookies in the freezer for two-three minutes so the frosting “glue” can harden.
If you couldn't find red melts (like me), dye the melted chocolate or vanilla red.
Dip the cookies in the melted chocolate (I used vanilla) half way
Add sprinkles to the half that was dipped in chocolate...you know, because Minnie is ALWAYS rockin' those dots!
Fill your bow mold with your melted chocolate or vanilla and place in the freezer for five (5) minutes
Use the icing to add the bows to the cookies.
Place cookies on a piece of parchment paper and move to the freezer for 15 minutes.
Place completed cookies back in the freezer and allow the chocolate or vanilla time to completely harden and enjoy your Minnie Oreos!!!
Winnie the Pooh Cookie Ingredients
Oreo Cookies (regular and mini)
Vanilla or White Chocolate Melts (yellow melts are desired, but day of, I couldn't find any)
Parchment paper
Yellow food coloring
Brown or Black decorating icing for Pooh's face
Wilton White Cookie Icing
A pan or flat plate

As promised, here is the photo of Brooklyn enjoying her very first Oreos.
