Easter, But Make It Disney

Here it is...time to show off my very first craft! With Easter just around the corner, I decided to make some felt Easter eggs with a Disney twist...HIDDEN MICKEYS. I am a sucker for a good hidden Mickey. I am absolutely loving crafting with felt...there are so many amazing crafts to create using felt! Felt is affordable, easy to find, can be purchased in bulk, and is nearly indestructible when my toddler gets ahold of it.

Below, I will show you how to make your own fun felt Easter eggs with hidden Mickeys. SUPPLIES:

-Felt

-Scissors

-Sewing yarn or six strand string and a sewing needle

-Sharpie or other marker

-Paper for Mickey and egg templates

-Poly Fil

Create Templates This is pretty easy...just trace a Mickey head and egg on a sheet of paper and cut them out. You will also need to trace half of an egg so you can make the pockets. I Googled the shapes and traced over my iPad. I guess that was the difficult route, as you could probably just print the templates and cut them out. lol Remember that these can be any size you'd like. Mine are larger than a standard egg.

•Trace the Shapes on Felt and Cut Them Out I chose my favorite spring time colors and played with them to see which combinations I liked best.

•Sew the Eggs and Pockets Together After all pieces have been cut and your color combos have been created, choose the thread colors you'd like to use and start threading the eggs and pockets together. Another Mama showed me how to thread using the blanket stitch and that is aesthetically pleasing, however, you can sew the eggs however you'd like. Sew two full eggs and a half egg (for pocket) together. Make sure you leave an opening so you can add poly fil.

•Stuff Eggs with Poly Fil I didn't want my eggs to be flat, so I stuffed them with a bit of poly fil. You can add more or less depending on your preference.

•Add Your Mickeys to the Pockets

Put Mickey in the pocket and walla, you're all done! You could also add candy or other goodies and have the kiddos find them or give them as gifts!

If you have older kids, they can help create the eggs. Brooklyn is still too little, but she does enjoy playing with them!

HAPPY EASTER!

With Love and Pixie Dust,

Peyton
